The Vice-Chancellor's Awards at UOW is granted annually to recognise a range of excellence among university staff.
I was humbly awarded by our new Vice-Chancellor in the stream of Outstanding Contributions of Teaching and Learning (OCTAL) as a PhD student and sessional teacher due to my continuous efforts in remote teaching. It was an unforgettable time assisting nearly 100 students located worldwide with debugging hardware-based software through a camera during COVID outbreaks. The awarding results for 2021 have been announced here.
The 3MT is an annual global speech competition among PhD students, in which an 80,000-word thesis is presented in 3 minutes using language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
I was the winner of the Faculty of EIS final at UOW and the People's Choice winner in the university final. My thrilling journey of stepping out of the laboratory and remotely communicating with global experts and audiences (thanks to COVID) can be found in the playback.
My submission to IEEE 5-Minute Video Clip Contest 2020, which is the first edition of video presentation contests in IEEE, the largest global community in my field.
Supervised by Prof. Christian Ritz, I led a team of UOW and utilised this opportunity to provide a review of my PhD research with creative video presentation techniques. The video tries to ease the understanding for both professional and non-professional audiences, resulting in a first runner-up through worldwide voting.

My video delineates the big picture of my PhD research, demonstrating how novel microphone arrays can contribute to the AI industry and thus realising the smart city in the future. The announcement of results can be found at this link.
My conference paper has been nominated as the best poster in the APSIPA ASC 2019, which is a well-known annual conference on signal processing. I feel happy with this result as only one paper is nominated, and that I can receive the award together with my supervisor.
This is the second paper in my research area that introduces the novel microphone array called semi-coprime microphone array, which can be read at this link .
